Day 8 - Ocean Shores, WA - 2550 Miles

We made it. We stopped to see Terry's brother and his family in Olympia on the way in. There was considerable discussion about whether or not a family photo would be considered "blog worthy." At first I thought not, but upon realizing one of them could take us to the cruise terminal in Seattle next month, this becomes the most important photo of the trip to date.

After that it was an hour and twenty minutes to Ocean Shores on the Pacific coast.

For the past year since making reservations I've worried about, "Are they really going to give us that room for that price"? Well there's good news and bad news. The bad news is the answer is no. Last year we were shown the best room in the hotel. I would say the room we got is the fourth best room in the hotel. We'll meet with the manager tomorrow to see if it helps any, but I'm not optimistic. The good news is had we been shown this room to start with at the same price we still would have jumped all over it.

Briefly went down to the beach to make sure the ocean was still there. It was.

Tomorrow we start to settle in with a trip to Walmart for supplies. I'll also download a tide table app so I don't get the car washed away on the beach. A sign warns that the most frequent call to 911 in the area is, "My car is underwater." It says to not even call and gives the number to a tow service. I'm guessing some of the people in the water above are the same people who would return to a submerged vehicle.
